WESTLIFE stars Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan took time out of their tour to visit Celtic’s training ground on Tuesday afternoon.
The band, who are in town for the Glasgow leg of their 'Where We Are' tour, were invited to pull their boots on at Lennoxtown ahead of the second of three shows at the SECC tonight.
Nicky and Shane jumped at the chance to visit their boyhood heroes’ training facility as they prepared for the UNICEF Soccer Aid match on June 6, which they are taking part in.
The Irish stars were impressed with what they saw and as Celtic fans, they were delighted with the resources which are now available to the players.
“It’s an amazing place,” Nicky exclusively told Channel 67. “I’ve been to a few training grounds but this has really taken shape and is becoming one of the best in the country without a doubt.
“I’ve been to Manchester United’s and Fulham’s, along with Leeds United’s, who I used to play for. They did a similar thing in 2001, building on acres of land with pitches, synthetic pitches and a medical centre.
“Now that Celtic have this facility, it looks pretty special.”
